Ara and Marjorie
Biographical Note

Ara and Marjorie teach Argentine Tango in Victoria, B.C. Canada.

They introduce students to the Argentine Tango fundamentals such as caminar, cruzada, ochos, molinetes, boleos, ganchos and more in their 'TANGO FUNDAMENTALS CLASS' every Friday night at 8 p.m. at the Café Casablanca, 2524 Bridge Street, Victoria, B.C.

Marjorie grew up with a love for dance and has studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, flamenco, belly dancing, ballroom and yes, even pole dancing. Ara has a strong background in social ballroom dance and has taught and danced in Victoria for many years.

In their private studio Marjorie also teaches Therapeutic Yoga with flavours of Hatha and Ashtanga while Ara shares his considerable knowledge as a third-degree black belt in Okinawa style Shorn Ryu Karate.

Since they were introduced to Argentine tango, they have committed themselves to the challenge with enthusiasm and a strong belief that "the Tango must be earned."

Ara and Marjorie have benefited from the expertise of Brent and Hedy and visiting teachers such as Eduardo Saucedo (teacher and performer at CITA, the biggest tango festival in Buenos Aires); Homer Ladas (perhaps the foremost American tango innovator); Michael and Beatrix, who live, dance and study in Argentina; and Tony Fan and Ilana Rubin of Seattle.
